Learn How SMC Ionizers Work - Demonstration

Hey everybody. I am Phil from Scott Equipment Company; I am part of the Tech Team and today we are going to demonstrate how the SMC ionizer works.

Okay, kids Welcome to Science class. Today we are going to do several things. First, we are going to create some static electricity with this piece of styrofoam and this PVC pipe. Then we are going to measure the static electricity with SMC’s ESD meter to measure the amount of static electricity in kilovolts. The we are going to use their fan type ionizer to remove the static electricity.

Now this fan ionizer that SMC offers is cool. It does not require any pneumatic air; it is all done with an internal fan. The SMC fan ionizer has a range of up to 4 feet away from the product. And it has up to 4400 liters per minute of volume when the potentiometer is cranked up to 10. Right now, because we are close to the item that we are going to deionized in our science experiment, we cranked down the fan to about three.

Let us go ahead and create some static electricity. All right, now let us measure it. And we have about almost four kilovolts of static electricity now let us take our fan type ionizer and let us point it towards this and let us watch the ESD meter. Yes, it is dropping down to 1.8, 1.6, 1.4 and down below one now. point .6, .4, 3., .2, .08.

And there you go. Another successful Scott Equipment Company science experiment. So, if you have any questions about SMC’s ionizer products, please reach out to us here at Scott Equipment Company in beautiful Charlotte, North Carolina and thank you for your time.
