Camozzi DOT Fittings - Fittings for Harsh Environment

Mike

Hello, everybody. I am Mike. I'm the Marketing Manager for Scott Equipment Company. And today we've got Troy Baker here from Camozzi. He's going tell us about DOT fittings and what's unique about their DOT fittings is different from what you've probably seen. So Troy, we're going to talk to you about DOT fittings today

Troy, another thing that is unique is that you guys have DOT fittings for Department of Transportation or heavy use fittings. So tell us a little bit about the Camozzi DOT fitting and why you may not want to just for trucks and it can be used in harsh environments, too.

Troy

Camozzi DOT Fittings - Fittings for Harsh EnvironmentAbsolutely. Yes. So, these are DOT fittings so they're certified by the Department of Transportation for heavy duty truck applications or over the road trucks. And compared to a standard fitting, these require a higher level of testing and certification. And we just reintroduced our DOT line about three years ago. So we have the new series in ND fitting that not only meets the standards for the DOT, but it meets a higher level of standard for SAE so we prescribed to both of those certifications. SAE requires a higher level of testing for side loading, for tensile loading, for tighter standards on leakage and vibration. And this new fitting performs to both of those standards.

A really unique feature of the Camozzi DOT fittings relative to the other DOT fittings that are out there is that it comes standard with an electrolytic nickel plating. So why do you think that would be important

Mike

for corrosion resistance?

Troy

Absolutely

Mike

Something like that. And because these are for harsh environments?

Troy

Sure. Yes. What are they putting in on the roads during the wintertime?

Mike

It is winter. Salt? And I think someone says something about magnesium? Yes. But anyway, something is corrosive.

Troy

Yeah, Magnesium Chloride.

Yes, magnesium chloride is not very friendly with brass. So we've done some testing some third party testing in a salt spray environment for 1400 hours with our fitting and a non-plated brass fitting. And after 1400 hours, we re-tested our fitting it performed as normal, whereas the brass fitting due to dezincification, it caused the collet to fuse to the bonnet.

Mike

So basically all the corrosion froze the fitting, and you couldn't get the tubing out, or replace the tubing if you needed to. And you folks have a solution for that.

Troy

We do and it is a nickel plating.

So, another thing with the new series ND we've expanded our range of available sizes. So, we have two more larger tube sizes. We've got a 5/8” tube and a ¾” tube and then our thread size goes all the way up to ¾” NPT as well. We've also expanded the number of shapes so in all we have a total of 60 new models available. And we're stocking all these in very high quantities in McKinney, Texas for immediate delivery.

Mike

All right, awesome. Another great thing about Camozzi, they have products in stock and they are ready to come to you.
