Mike:

What’s up Industrial Automation world? I am Mike. I am the Marketing Manager for Scott Equipment Company. We are excited. Steve Jerome is here today from DataSensing. He's going to tell us about Datasensing sensors, light curtains, and their SLS area scanner and why they're such great products. We are going to start with the light curtains, and we will hand it over to Steve.

Steve:

Thanks, Mike.

As Mike said, my name is Steve Jerome.  I am the DataSensing Southeast Area Territory Account Manager.

Today, Data Sensing manufactures sensors and optical safety products. And today we are going to start off with our new SH-4 series of safety light curtains. This light curtain comes in four models a basic, standard, standard with muting and advanced model. Today, I have the advanced models with me to show them to you.

The light curtains are available in 14-millimeter beam spacing and 30-millimeter beam spacing for finger and hand protection. And then we also offer them in a body protection with a two, three or four beam version.

To start off with, I have the advanced models here. These are the models that have all the capabilities on it. For starters, we have an aiming laser that can be used to set up light curtains. Anyone that has ever set up a set of Light Curtains knows that aiming the light curtains is the most difficult part of setting them up. So, the laser will assist you in aiming the light curtains, as well as having multiple LEDs on the unit that will change different colors. And when you get all three of them blue, you know that you are properly aligned.

Some of the additional features in addition to the alignment on these units is that we do have both floating blanking and fixed blanking units, as well as standard and dynamic muting. Today, I will show you some of the fixed blanking units. I am going to take a card here; I can go ahead and just push a button on my demo.

Right now, everything is operating normally. When I use the blanking, the card is going to simulate a conveyor or a piece of equipment that is in the field of the light curtains that we want to ignore. Because there is no way to get around, it is for somebody to injure themselves. So, I am going to go ahead and set this up, we must wait a few seconds to go ahead and do it. And then once I am done setting it up, I push the button and the light curtain is back in normal operation mode. If I happen to remove that device that is in the way such as that conveyor, the curtains go to a danger or a situation to stop the machine, or while that device is in there, and I happen to block the curtains. Again, they go ahead and shut the machine down.

One of the additional features of these units is that the curtains are cascadeable.  Both the standard and the advanced models can be cascaded. I can have one master along with three follower or slave units that are connected in the master. So, I can bring four light curtains into a single connection back into your PLC and your safety e-stop string.

Another feature of these one of the most advanced features of this unit is we have Wi-Fi communication capabilities. With the Wi-Fi we can monitor the light curtains, as well as configure the light curtains. We are the only company on the market that can do both right now.

I can go to the Apple store, get an app, download it to my iPhone or my iPad. We also have an app in the Google Play Store so you can download it to your Google tablet or phone. You can also download it to your laptop and use that via Wi-Fi to configure these light curtains.

If you have any questions or want to see a demo, reach out to your Scott Equipment Company Account Manager and he will go ahead and arrange for him and I to come by and visit you. Have a great day.

Mike:
