An Enidine viscous speed governor (VSG) controls the rotation of shafts and hinged loads using silicone-based viscous shearing: as the shaft turns, an inner rotor shears the silicone fluid inside the stationary housing, giving resistance and smooth motion control. Fluid viscosity is selected for the component size, weight, spring assist and desired cycle time. Enidine states the VSG controls rotary motion in both directions through 360 degrees, needs no adjustment and operates from -40 °F to +200 °F (-40 °C to +95 °C).
